Study, Sunrise, Minnesota

To be clear: I’m originally from southern Wisconsin. But these days, if I want my nostalgic “upper Midwest” fix, I visit family in Minnesota. To me, there are fundamental differences between the two states, and it bewilders me that the rest of the country consistently confuses the two, ugh. Nonetheless, I will concede that one commonality is open, expansive landscapes. 

I caught this moment during an early morning in October in rural farm country just west of Minneapolis. It’s a celebration of the warm, late season light and the nearly infinite horizon so typical of the upper Midwest.
