Garnet

I’m kicking off 2026 with a new, year-long series called “Jewel Tones,” paintings inspired by the colors of traditional birthstones of each month. I’m super excited about this series because it combines my love of color with my incurable nerdy zeal to understand history and nature.

January begins with garnet, a red stone used in adornments since the Bronze Age. Some believe that garnets bring their wearers good health, wealth, and happiness. My debut painting in this series features West 44^th Street in midtown Manhattan, with gorgeous reds setting the tone for a night on the town.
