Study, Rare Air

Until recently, we’ve been in a drought in East Tennessee. When I went to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park near our home for a painting excursion, I was taken aback by how low the mountain streams were. While this is disconcerting to see, it does open a whole different dimension for exploration. Suddenly, huge boulders emerge and I can (carefully) hop my way across previously impassable freshwater rapids. I caught this composition from the middle of the Middle Prong River, a fleeting opportunity to gain a different perspective.
