Cades Cove Winter

This is my very first winter painting from Tennessee, and it comes from none other than the historic Cades Cove in the Great Smoky Mountains. 

We have snow here in east Tennessee more frequently than you might assume. The challenge is getting *out* to enjoy it because we don't really have plow trucks to take care of our roads. Fortunately, I was able to get to the mountains and capture this moment during a peaceful early morning. In fact, I spent the whole day in the park and logged a six-mile hike to get my snow fix, plus a ton of inspiration. 

I love how the Smokies are a (snowy) world unto themselves.
