A quiet summer moment along Walnut Street in Philadelphia plays with an inversion of light and subtle narrative. I really enjoyed painting this subject.

The title for this painting comes from a song lyric by one of my favorite musicians, DJ and producer, Tokimonsta. Just over a year ago, I traded in all of my music CDs and now I listen to music on Spotify. An ethically tough decision for someone who began her education as a music major, but this old dinosaur was trying to get with the times.

Anyways, I discovered Tokimonsta after hearing her interviewed on NPR. Whether I'm painting in my studio or working out in the gym, her music is a frequent accompaniment for me. This lyric comes from the title track to her Grammy Award-winning album, Lune Rouge, and I thought it was perfect for this subject.
