It's been tough for me to process his absence. Ryan was a dynamic and optimistic individual who immediately became the friend you didn't know you needed. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis painting comes from the Great Smoky Mountains in east Tennessee during an early March hike to Rainbow Falls. When I began on the trail that day, it was sunny and mild. As I made my way up the slopes, I passed into an elevation with a light covering of snow. It was brilliant, scintillating, and magical. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eShortly before his death, I shared the initial study for this painting with Ryan. He briefly offered his thoughts, and cheered me on. That's the way Ryan was.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis title is a nod to his influence in my life. If you've followed my artwork for any length of time, then you know that this native Wisconsinite is partial to winter landscapes.
