Well, you guessed it. My most recent visit to New York City was one heckuva rainout. I don't know, maybe it's the fact that I come from Pennsylvania and just bring the rain along with me?
Regardless, there's nothing like the reflections of a heavy rainfall to give an added dimension to the city. I caught this view near Bleecker Street in Lower Manhattan. I ride bike quite a bit myself, but I do whatever I can to avoid being out in the rain. I admire urban commuters who brave such conditions and who, in this case, gave me such a cool composition.
This piece is all about the contrast of warm and cool colors as well as the long, dramatic reflections in the foreground. I enjoyed playing with the low vantage point and resulting high horizon.
