Sarah Pollock - Landscapes

Moonrise, Winter

Moonrise

8 x 12 Pastel on paper

Magnify

I've admired this ridge located near our home for many years, but it took until this past year for me to finally explore it in my work. My first piece inspired by this location was a nighttime landscape, Harvest Moon. Here, night has not yet fallen and I composed the piece from a slighty different angle in order to have the trees frame the moon. For whatever reason, I just love these lanky and weather-worn pine trees. I'm only too well-acquainted with the fierce howling winds that we get in this area during the winter months....There's nothing like a 6:30am dog walk in the pre-dawn darkness, and I think the resilience of these trees is what draws me to them.
