One of my favorite sounds is the whispering howl of a gentle breeze through a stand of pine trees. Fortunately, it's easy to hear this in central Pennsylvania, where beautiful woodlands and state parks are always nearby.
A couple of weeks ago, Annie and I went for a stroll in Black Moshannon State Park. The snow was about a foot deep and it was a good workout. But it was also incredibly inspiring. Winter gets an unfair bum rap. When the light is right, no season sparkles like winter. This particular hike was so gorgeous that I was inspired to start a new series of pieces.
"Hush" is the first in this series and I'm very excited about this idea because I usually favor broad panoramics and big skies in my landscapes, so these more intimate pieces are a nice change of pace. And if I can transport you, the viewer, to the beauty of these peaceful woodland interiors, then all will be well.
