8 x 12. Pastel on board.
I painted this piece en plein air during the afternoon of my birthday in mid-September. My day just happened to be an absolutely gorgeous day this year.
The afternoon before this, my dog, Annie, and I were attacked by our neighbor's dog when we were out for our afternoon stroll. It was terrifying for me, but luckily Annie only sustained a small gash beneath her eye and I came away unscathed even while trying to get the other dog off of her. After that, we both needed to calm our jangled nerves. So the next day, I took Annie up to Black Moshannon with me. We had the whole place to ourselves that afternoon. It was perfect.
