12 x 18. Pastel on board.
When it comes to selecting the subjects and ideas for my cityscapes, I continue to be amazed by what naturally presents itself to me. I love to take "everyday" moments and heighten them with stylized colors and dramatic vantage points.
This was in downtown Chicago during a beautiful summer night. This scene is dominated by what I characterize as low key primary colors; that is, dark variations of the painter's three primary colors of red, yellow, and blue.
This piece was included in the Maryland Pastel Society's "Shades of Pastel Biennial National Juried Exhibition 2009." The exhibition was at Strathmore Hall in Bethesda, Maryland from September 26, 2009 through November 7, 2009.
