Electrify

18 x 24. Pastel on board.

Midtown Manhattan gets an infusion of wonderful rainy reflections. This piece was sheer fun to create.

I am a child of the 80s. And you have no idea how difficult it was for me to resist the temptation to call this artwork "Purple Rain," in homage to one of my favorite musical artists, Prince (Somewhere my older brothers, who always claimed more sophisticated musical taste than mine, are cringing about the fact that I actually put this admission on my web site).

Anyways, I decided that it would be a bit too cliché to use that title with this piece. But on the morning that I was set to complete this piece in my studio, I awoke with the Beastie Boys' "Electrify" in my head. Which is odd because it's not even one of my preferred songs from their "Hello Nasty" CD, but the title seemed perfect for this piece.

Sorry, Prince.
