Something as ordinary as folks rushing across a street is a beautiful moment in the right light. This was near the lower east side of Manhattan.
After returning on the subway from Brooklyn, I disembarked and walked from pretty much the bottom of the island up to 78th Street on this brisk, early spring day. I guess I was feeling an affinity with the urban pedestrians when this subject caught my eye.
This painting won the Judy Pardue Memorial Award for Best Landscape in the Maryland Pastel Society's 2011 Shades of Pastel National Juried exhibition.
